    A Thornton police officer lethally wounded a dog outside a home last week, the second dog shot by a city cop in less than a year.

    “I wish I could wake up tomorrow and it’s all a bad dream, but that is not gonna happen, and my dog is not gonna come home,” said Kacey Stringham, whose 70-pound dog, Sara, was shot June 18.

    Stringham says she and lawyers from The Animal Law Center will do their own investigation because she does not want this to happen to another family.

    “This has caused a lot of chaos in my neighborhood.” Stringham said. “I really don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”
